Dear Friends,

A very warm if ‘virtual welcome’ to the parish of St. Brendan, the Navigator. Our parish patron is famous for his voyages which he made in search of the ‘Promised Land’. The fact you have decided to pay us a visit probably indicates that, like St. Brendan and like the members of our parish family, you are also searching for a land where justice and peace can flourish and human beings can in unity, friendship and peace.

Through his many voyages and in the many Christian communities, monastic and parochial, which he established, St. Brendan clearly found Christ giving him eyes to see the ‘promised land’ and embrace its inhabitants in love and in peace.

His vision and his teaching continue to inspire us and to guide us. The heart of our family and what holds us together as one is our faith in Jesus Christ and our firm conviction that he is to found in the family of the Church.

SEARCHING FOR THE PROMISED LAND
St. Peter in describing the Church used the analogy of a building and said that we are “living stones” making up the body of Christ. The stones which Christ uses to form his Church need a lot of work to shape them and form them and to place them in the building so that what is constructed is something beautiful and worthy of God.

This process of being shaped and formed by God is the life and work of our parish. Through listening to the Word and God and sharing in the sacraments and life of the Church we allow ourselves to be shaped and formed by the heavenly craftsman.

I hope you can find something of interest in our site to help you to find the Promised Land and I assure you of an actual warm welcome should you find time to visit us in reality.

May God grant you his peace and his blessing.
